Took this cheese spread home. Reminded me of our family's time in France in September last year. Justine and Daniel love this creamy cheese spread. During breakfast, they would just help themselves to eat with their french rolls or baget. There were popping these lil cheesy triangles like M&Ms. :D

My breakfast. 2 eggs, 2 pieces of wholemeal bread, tomato with fried onions, and 2 tablespoons of baked beans. Had 2 glasses of apple juice and a banana too. I think my stomach has shrunk. Was actually quite full after that. No 2nd helpings. Quite unlike me. I normally eat like there's no tomorrow, at a buffet. :D

Today, Bryan and I had a breakfast appointment with Emmanuel and On. Didn't take my morning green drink shake. First real breakfast since I started the detox program 13 days ago.

Day 12 ... Spaghetti in Homemade Tomato Sauce

SPAGHETTI IN HOMEMADE TOMATO SAUCE

Monday, July 12, 2010
6 pm @ Home

Dinner tonight was spaghetti in home made tomato sauce. Bryan did the cooking. I was uhh, responsible, for everything else ... taking all the right stuffs out from the fridge and garnishing.

1. Sauce - Pureed tomatoes onions and garlic. Drizzle some olive oil on hot saucepan. Add pureed mixture in. And basil leaves. Simmer. Add juice of half a lemon (that was all the lemon we had in the fridge). No sea salt. Used one vegan burger pate for better texture and meat replacement. Minced it. Add to the simmering ingredients.

2. Spaghetti - when ready, drain, and add into the sauce. Cook the spaghetti in the sauce. Just for a few minutes. Bryan got this tip from watching AFC. This way the sauce penetrates into the noodles and is more flavourful.

3. Garnish - butterhead lettuce, tomatoe slices, lemon slices, coriander leaves, olives cut in halves.

To Sum Up : 2 shakers of The Green Drink & 1 meal. Juice and fruits. Water. :D

Day 11 ... Crock Pot Chicken & Potatoes

One Dish
Rice with Cabbage & Crock Pot Chicken and Potatoes

Sunday, July 11, 2010
6pm @ Home

Today is Sunday ... :D

We normally have just a ONE large dish on Sundays. The white pyrex above is about 10 inches X 12 inches in size. Had my first green drink this morning, but missed the second one at lunch time. Was clearing out and cleaning the fridge after coming home from Mass late morning. By the time I was done, it was about 3pm. Decided to have an early dinner then. Didn't want to spoil my appetite.

1. Made a no-hassle crock pot chicken dish. Removed skin from the chicken thighs before putting them into the pot. Added potato cubes, carrots, shitakii mushrooms (sliced and without the stand). Sea salt and pepper, sesame seed oil, shoyu and black sauce. Also added some tomato sauce. Closed lid, and put the timer on high. Would take about 2 hours or so. Even though no water is added, this dish would always end up with its own gravy.

Sliced some red and yellow pepper bells. And tomatoes. Sprigs of coriander leaves. To add on as fresh vegetables when the dish is ready.

2. Pressure cooked brown rice & the remainder of jasmine rice that we used during our waterfall trip. Added several cloves of garlic (with skin on).

3. Water-fried cabbage and carrots in sea salt and shoyu. At the same time in a separate small pot, fried one large onion (sliced) in sesame oil till brown.

Was hungry about 5:30pm. Fortunately, chicken was ready by the time. Scooped the rice and placed it on one side of the pyrex. Emptied the contents of the crock pot on to the other side. Scattered the bell peppers on top and roughly arranged the tomatoes on the sides. Added the fragrant coriander leaves for contrast. Then, scooped the mixed water-fried cabbage and carrots and placed on top of the rice, with the sweet fried onion on top. Goes well with the garlic in the rice, and gravy from the chicken. Squeeze one end of the garlic and it would pop right out of its skin. Mash it with the fork on your plate, and just mix with rice, gravy etc.

To sum up : One shaker of The Green Drink today & one meal. Fruits (fuji apple). Juices and Water. :D

Day 11 ...

Dinner looked like this,

Day 10 ... Claypot Tofu

Claypot Tofu

7:00 pm @ Home

My last day today ...

You know, I think I'm just going to carry on bloggin' about my one meal a day. Somehow it's habit forming (the one meal a day AND the bloggin'), and I've kinda got used to the routine. Will lift the restriction though on no animal meat. (Sorry Tony - I'm just a Firewalker who likes to eat animals occasionally) Would like to eat chicken again ... maybe lamb chops too ... perhaps during the weekend, will try to bake a cake (where do I begin???) ... cooking is therapeutic I find, and so's bloggin' ...  Only God knows I need daily sessions of that. We'll see how it goes. I don't want to be a Hero and commit too much, in case tak jadi.

Bryan's traveling back from Singapore at the moment, so dinner is just for Justine and me.

(1) Checked the fridge and found some soft tofu. Decided to just use a claypot. So, sliced tofu lengthwise, and arranged in the claypot, over lapping one another. Added beech mushrooms (whole) and sliced shitakii mushrooms (without the stand). Shredded some carrots and scattered on top. Drizzled sesame seed oil. Added some oyster sauce and shoyu. Pepper. Put the lid over and placed on low fire (my claypot cannot take high fire). In a separate small pot, threw in thinly sliced small onions and fried in sesame seed oil, for quite a while till it was soft and fragrant. Tastes really sweet this way.

Tofu ready. Scooped the fried soft onions and added on the dish. Placed a small bunch of nice-smelling coriander leaves on top. Should have also added some raw shredded carrots too for a more vibrant colour combination. The photo above could do with a brighter colour, huh. Sorry about that. :(

(2) Peeled one large russet potato. Cut into small bite cubes. Boiled with sea salt. (Yeah, I remembered the sea salt this time). When ready, mixed with mayonnaise and a shake of pepper. Justine's favourite. She's easy to please. :D

(3) Steamed 2 bowls of brown rice (left over from 2 days ago - was kept in an air-tight tupperware in the fridge, so rice was still good).

Jus and I had dinner sitting on the carpet, watching TV. Rules Of Engagement was on then. :D

I can't believe I'm about to say this but I feel bloggin' about the last 10 days on my food intake, has helped me put my life back into perspective. To be honest, I have not had the desire to cook since my Son left for happier shores (January 21st, this year). We've been doing take-outs, eat-outs and home deliveries, for the last five and a half months. I've barely cooked more than 5 times during this period. If at all there were home cooking, they were done by my beloved husband, Bryan. :D

To sum up : I had my 2 shakers of The Green Drink, fruits (mangoes) and juices. And water. And One Meal.

Today, my 10th day, I find that my Bollywood tummy is still lookin' like Kareena Kapoor's and hasn't gotten as flat as Jennifer Anniston's. However, there is always a lesson to be learned in every journey, I feel, and if there were any lesson to be learned here, it would be this :

Bloggin' is good for the heart, mind and soul. :D

Day 9 ... Spaghetti in Tomato Sauce & Salad

Spaghetti in Homemade Tomato Sauce,
Mixed Vegetable Salad and Potato Salad

Friday, July 9, 2010
7:30pm @ Home

Today passed by like a normal day. No hunger pangs. No stomach growling. No body aches. In fact, didn't get any of these symptoms except for body ache on the second day. Tomorrow is my last day. Woah. Was at Old Town cafe jus now while waiting for Justine attending her tuition class. Ordered a hot lemon tea @ RM3-50. This is my first time eating out since started the cleansing program. Tea came, had 2 spoonful and left it. Somehow didn't taste right.

Dinner was spaghetti tonight.

(1) Vegetable Salad (romaine lettuce, red and yellow bell peppers, grapes, carrots, purple cabbage, squeezed some lemon, drizzled flexseed oil, and added a dollop of mayonnaise)

(2) Potato Salad (cubes of potaotes mixed with mayonnaise, a shake of pepper and a drizzle of olive oil) (forgot to add some sea salt while boiling the potatoes)

(3) Spaghetti Sauce (Bryan effortlessly prepared the sauce, before he left for JB today. Pureed tomatoes, onions and garlic together, added sea salt & pepper. He added some blended chillies to make it a little spicy. The spaghetti noodles were boiled in pot of water, with a few drops of olive oil.)

Justine loved the sauce, which she added cheddar cheese on top. I couldn't believe I found the sauce pedas (spicy). I'm like the chilly and sambal queen since like forever. My lungs/chest is still smarting with the "hotness." Normally, I would banjir (flood) the spaghetti with the sauce but for this one, 2 table spoons were sufficient to give me a spicy tomato pasta. :D

To sum up : 2 shakers of The Green Drink, fruits and one meal. And water. Didn't have juice today. No time to do the juicing. Running in and out of the house. (That's exercise I suppose ... Who's to say it's not, right?)

Day 8 ... Brown Rice with Grilled Fish

Brown rice with grilled fish and mixed vegetables
Tofu soup

8pm @ Home

Day 8 is almost over. Today, was busy searching for a YouTube Video on How To Dance Michael Jackson's Thriller. We're going to do that as the first part of the performance. Initially, thought of just doing 1 minute of it, but the kids are pretty good, so will let them do 1.5 minutes, before we perform Jingle Bell Rock.

Had dinner at 7:30pm. (1) A portion of brown rice, (2) fish (marinated in tumeric, sea salt, shoyu) and fried in sesame oil, topped with blended chillies, (3) vegetables (stir fry cabbage, carrots, beech mushroom, chopped chillies, sea salt and shoyu) and (4) a bowl of tofu soup (soup base was leftover from yesterday). (5) Mango for dessert. :D

So, today's my 8th day. Had 2 shakers of The Green Drink for breakfast and lunch. Juice and fruits. And water. And one meal. Two more days to go ...
