wan tan mi ...

a close-up of merbok's wan tan mi
(merbok is the little town that we were at)

brunch ...

Sunday, June 20, 2010 @ 11:30am

We had scrambled eggs and bread for breakfast. Toasted some more garlic bread. Cleared the place and packed up before leaving. Right outside the "jungle" are some shop houses, one of which sells the typical merbok wan tan mi. Home made noodles, very different from the normal wan tan mi noodles that we're used to. So, even though we had taken our breakfast, except for me (I had to decline bc the 3 pieces of lamb chops still not fully digested), we HAD TO take the noodles before leaving. It's our tradition ...

this is my favourite photo of all the girls together ...

lovely time ...

we had a lovely time that night ... the weather was so cool ...
the food was just awesome ... :D

garlic bread ...

kah eng (left) and grace helped to oven toast
the garlic bread prepared by choon mei ...
the garlic bread was warm and crunchy
and would finish the moment the plate was served on the table ...
no time to take photo ...

award winning ...

grace's award winning lamb chops and chicken wings, marinated 2 days earlier ...
with simple ingredients, i remember grace mentioned using vinegar to tenderize the lamb ...
jou grilled the lamb on a flat pan to retain the juices of the meat ...
the best lamb and chicken wings i have ever tasted!

BBQ Sifu ...

Jou was the BBQ SiFu Master ...
he was by the BBQ pit for 3 hours or so,
tirelessly grilling every meat, prawn and corn to perfection!

healthy salad ...

a close-up of the 3S salad with a "kick" ...
sweet, sour and spicy all at once ...

jungle durians ...

jungle durians are simply out of this world ...
the flesh is exquisitely smooth
 and deliciously creamy ...

there is nothing like it!

chicken rice ...

bryan's mother made hainanese chicken rice for lunch ...
absolutely heavenly ...
the rice was so fragrant, you could eat just the rice alone ...
and the chilly sauce ...
oh my ... what a treat!
